IDA JOHANNA VERWEY (nee OVERWATER) On Saturday, March 26, 2005 Ida Verwey of rural Portage la Prairie, beloved wife of the late Gerrard Verwey, passed away at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 88 years. Left to treasure her memory are her children, Jo-Ann and Karl Voesenek, John and Norma Verwey, Marie and Lloyd Delf, Geraldine and Gerry Masson, Gerry Bernie Verwey, Arnold and Judy Verwey, Ida and Tom Trimble, Pat and Owen Williams, and Randy and Shirlene Verwey; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one sister Mary (Albert) Geurts; sisters-in-law, Antoinette Overwater and Jean Overwater; and many nieces and nephews. Prayers will be said on Monday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Rd. S., Portage la Prairie led by Deacon Bill Parrack. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 1125 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie with Celebrant Fr. Michael Wollbaum. Interment is to follow at Hillside Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Ida's memory to Good Shepherd Building Fund, 114 Countess Ave., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0T3 or Sunset Palliative Care Inc., Box 92, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3A7.
